WordPress Integration Guide
Empower your WordPress site with Sienna’s lightweight accessibility widget in just a few clicks.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Log in to Your WordPress Admin
Open your WordPress Admin Dashboard and select your website. From the left-hand navigation sidebar, click on Plugins and select Add New.
2. Search for a Header/Footer Plugin
There are several plugins that allow you to inject custom code into your WordPress header and footer. We highly recommend using WPCode or Insert Headers and Footers.
3. Install and Activate the Plugin
- Click Install Now on the WPCode plugin.
- Once installed, click Activate.
4. Inject Your Sienna Script
From the left-hand navigation sidebar, locate the new Code Snippets menu and click on Header & Footer.
- Navigate to the Header section.
- Paste your Sienna installation script into the box.
- Click Save Changes in the top right corner.
5. Finalize Installation
Your installation is complete! Navigate to your website’s public storefront and refreshing your browser to see the Sienna widget.
Method 2: Theme Editor (Advanced)
If you prefer not to use a plugin, you can manually inject the script into your theme’s header.php file.
1. Navigate to Theme File Editor
From the left-hand navigation sidebar, click on Appearance and select Theme File Editor.
2. Open header.php
On the right sidebar of the editor, locate and click on the header.php file.
3. Paste the Installation Script
Search for the closing </head> tag (usually near the top of the file).
- Create a new line immediately above the
</head>tag. - Paste your Sienna installation script into the new line.
- Click Update File at the bottom of the editor.
⚠️ Manually editing your theme files can lead to issues if not done correctly. We recommend method 1 for most users.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
- Widget Not Visible? Ensure you are checking the Public website and not the WordPress Admin dashboard.
- Plugin Conflict? If you are using a caching plugin (like WP Rocket or W3 Total Cache), ensure you clear your cache after saving changes.
- Missing Header & Footer? Some highly customized WordPress themes may not use standard header/footer hooks. In these cases, contact our Support Team for assistance.
