Google Sites Integration Guide

Adding Sienna to Google Sites requires using Google Apps Scripts to ensure the widget is properly integrated and active for your visitors.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Open Your Site Settings

  1. On your computer, open your site in Google Sites.
  2. Click More actions (three dots) > Settings.
  3. Select Manage site.

2. Access Apps Scripts

  1. In the left-hand menu, click on Apps Scripts.
  2. To create a new script, click Add new script.

3. Paste the Sienna Script

  1. Clear any existing code in the editor.
  2. Copy your Sienna installation script from the dashboard.
  3. Paste the script into the editor.
  4. In the File menu, click Save.

4. Add the Script to Your Page

You can add the script as a “gadget” to ensure it runs automatically for anyone who opens your page.

  1. Go to the page you want to edit.
  2. Click Edit (pencil icon).
  3. Click where you want to insert the script (usually near the bottom).
  4. Click Insert > Apps Script.
  5. Select your Sienna script from the list and follow the instructions.

5. Publish Your Changes

Click Save and then Publish to make the accessibility widget live on your Google site.

Alternative: Embed Code (Sandbox Warning)

Google Sites also offers an “Embed” feature. While simpler, it often places scripts in a “sandbox” iframe, which may prevent the widget from interacting with the full page layout. For best results, use the Apps Script method described above.
